Hridhyam Digital Streaming Rights Acquired by Disney+ Hotstar

Pranav Mohanlal starer Hridhyam was released on January 21 with much expectations. The latest development is that Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the digital streaming rights of Hridhyam. The film is expected to hit Hotstar within 10 days. Currently, Mohanlal’s BroDaddy is running in Hotstar.

Even though the film received rave reviews, it failed to garner the expected collections in Boxoffice because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is to be noted that theatres in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram were closed down indefinitely due to the Omicron scare and rise in COVID-19 cases. The whole Kerala is clogging over 50000+ positive cases with highest being in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Moreover, people are reluctant to visit theatres with families due to COVID-19 scare. That said, upcoming films like Kallan D’Souza were forced to postpone after fixing the release date to January 27. There are directors and producers who still depend upon theatres instead of direct OTT releases.

Hridhyam was famous among college students but bit unpopular among adults. The hyped promotion with Pranav, Kalyani, and their stills attracted college students to large extent. Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, Hridhyam features Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Darshana Rajendran among others. The film has been produced by Visakh Subramaniam under the banner Merryland Cinemas.

Vineeth took the good initiative to bring back Merryland Cinemas. Moreover, the makers of the film have also released cassettes and CDs for Hridhyam, which are available via Think Music. If you have a cassette player, you can buy Hridhyam cassette and enjoy the music experience. Nowadays, the music world has been occupied by online platforms like Amazon Prime Music with DVDs becoming obsolete.

Malaikottai Vaaliban was released on January 25, 2024, amidst huge expectations. Directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Malaikottai Vaaliban has entered its third week without much celebration among fans. According to reports, the Malaikottai Vaaliban OTT is expected to hit Disney+ Hotstar by the first week of March.

The company has acquired streaming rights for the film. Even though the films are released on OTT platforms after fourth week, there are indications that Malaikottai Vaaliban OTT will have an early release. There is a possibility that the film could hit OTT by the end of February 2024.

In addition to Mohanlal, Malaikottai Vaaliban features Sonali Kulkarni, Danish Sait, Manoj Moses, Katha Nandi, Manikandan R. Achari, and much more. The story revolves around the journey to various places and conducts battles with wrestlers. The movie comprises brilliant visual effects but the story was not as per the expectations of the people.

The film failed to make any major impact at the box office. The trackers have reported that Malaikottai Vaaliban has minted Rs 26 crore worldwide, which is less than the overall investment. Mohanlal had announced the release of a comic book. We don’t know in which marketplace the book will be up for sale.

On the work front, Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban is running in theatres with mixed response. The film hasn’t pulled viewers to the film theatres. Even though Mohanlal is a crowd-puller, Malaikottai Vaaliban failed to impress the audience due to some reasons. We expect the film to hit the OTT platform by the end of February.
